Berklee Jazz on Spectacle Island is accessible by ferry from Boston's Long Wharf North, next to Christopher Columbus Park (MBTA Blue Line to Aquarium Station, Green or Orange Lines to Haymarket Station).

Bard College USCMI Faculty Showcase

Suona master Yazhi Guo gathers his own unique combo of western and Chinese instrument players, including fellow faculty members from the Bard Conservatory accompanied by the Jiayi Guo Quartet from the Berklee School of Music. The program will be “An East West Encounter” of improvisational, jazz inflected tunes and riffs on traditional melodies.

Don’t miss an exciting evening highlighting innovative approaches to mixing, honoring, and questioning musical notions of East, West, Modern and Traditional.

A Circle of Love: Celebration of Women and Nonbinary Composers in Jazz

Jiayi Guo leads her quintet playing originals featuring vocalist Anouk Chemla, Riko Sasaki on alto sax, Jan Portisch on bass, and Jillian Upshaw on drums. All proceeds of tickets go to the Key of She, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting girls in jazz in grade school and beyond.

Grand Gathering: Jazz and Gender Justice

Berklee’s spring Signature Series will present Grand Gathering: Jazz and Gender Justice at the Berklee Performance Center on Tuesday, April 8, at 8:00 p.m. The performance will showcase the institute’s nine ensembles, covering a range of jazz styles from modern and mainstream to free and electronic, while also featuring improvised dance and original compositions by students. Special guests include four-time Grammy-winning drummer, composer, and producer Terri Lyne Carrington; artist-in-residence Marquis Hill; dancer and choreographer Christiana Hunte; Grammy-winning pianist Kris Davis; turntablist and composer Val Jeanty, and Grammy-winning guitarist Matthew Stevens BM ’09.
